FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about Nora RobertsⳠ books

Just finished reading the Bride Quartet and it was fabulous!  But please don't leave us hanging! We need to read about the
other three weddings.

Many readers have written in to say they would like to read more about Parker, Mac, Emma and Laurel, but Nora has finished telling the stories of the Bride Quartet and won't be going back for more.  Her plan was to tell the story of the women of Vows from New Year's Day to New Year's Day -- showing how they all found love in that year as well as how they run their business.  So while they are all set for happy endings, we are not going to see three more weddings.

Readers may have only just said goodbye to the series, but Nora finished writing the quartet more than 18 months ago and she has moved on to start the Inn BoonsBoro Trilogy which will debut with The Next Always in November.

I loved the Vision in White computer game from I-play.  There's a promo at the end of the game for a Bed of Roses game due out in December 2010.  I haven't been able to find it, has it be released?

Unfortunately, due to lower than expected sales of the Vision in White game, I-play has suspended development of the rest of the games based on the Bride Quartet.

Will Nora write more about characters from the Chesapeake Bay series? Or from High Noon? Or the Sign of Seven trilogy? Or any series/book she has written?

Readers write all the time asking for more stories about the characters they love. While itⳠwonderful that the characters have woven their way into readers⠨earts, by the time a book is released, Nora has already bid those characters a fond farewell and met a new set of characters who will later charm and enchant her readers.

When will Nora write more paranormals?

While Nora had a great time writing the Circle and Sign of Seven trilogies, sheⳠtaking a break from stories with paranormal elements. If a fabulous idea occurs to her, no doubt she⬬ find a way to bring it to the page.

In the meantime, if you would like a touch of the paranormal, check out the In Death novellas released each fall.

When will Nora finish the MacGregor series?

Nora parted ways with Silhouette (the publisher of this series) in 2002, so she will not write any more MacGregor stories.

In Tribute, it says Ford was conceived in a Ford Cutlass缢>thatⳠ not possible as there is no such car!

Many eagle-eyed Ford and Chrysler fans noticed this error. Nora intended it to be a Ford Mustang.

When will the next four books in the Sign of Seven series be in stores?

The Sign of Seven trilogy concluded with the third book, The Pagan Stone.

What is Nora working on now?

She is currently writing the first In Death for 2012, tentatively titled Celebrity in Death

Questions about J. D. ROBB books
(Please note that spoilers are very much ahead)

I looked over the release schedule for this year and why is there only one full-length In Death in 2011????

New York to Dallas (September) is a full-length In Death novel that follows directly after Treachery in Death (February).  Nora and her editor decided on a one-time name change for this book.  There are very few details right now other than it's a case that involves the criminal from Eve's first headline case after she leaves the Academy and it pulls Eve back to Dallas. More details to come!

I've heard that the In Death series is ending!  Is Time of Death the final book?

Please don't worry -- there is no end in sight for the In Death series. In fact, Nora is already hard at work at the first of two In Deaths that will be on the 2012 schedule.

Time of Death features three of the In Death novellas -- Eternity, Ritual and Missing -- so readers can have them in one volume.

In which book does Eve meet Roarke?

In the first book of the series, Naked in Death.

In which book do they get married?

Eve and Roarke get married off-stage between the third and fourth books of the series. The ceremony is about to start as Immortal in Death ends, and they are on their honeymoon when Rapture in Death opens.

In which book does Roarke find out the truth about his family?

Roarke learns he doesnⴠknow everything about his past in Portrait in Death.

In which book is Mira in danger?

She is captured in the novella ㍩dnight in Death,䠷hich was first published in an anthology titled Silent Night then subsequently reprinted in Three in Death.

In which book do we first meet Max Ricker?

Max Ricker is first introduced in Judgment in Death.

Is the Medical Examiner Morris or Morse?

Li Morris is the NYPSD medical examiner.  In a continuity error, he was referred to as Morse in Witness in Death and Judgment in Death.

Why donⴠthe books have the picture of Eve on them anymore?

That is actually the official J. D. Robb author photo, not a depiction of Eve.

Why donⴠthe books say ㎯ra Roberts writing as J. D. Robb䠡nymore? Is she no longer writing the series? ThatⳠwhat I hear!

Nora writes every word of the In Death series硦ter all, sheⳠas interested in the characters⠬ives as the readers are.  The marketing department at Penguin decided that after 14 books reminding readers that it was Nora Roberts writing as J. D. Robb, that it was time to let
J. D. Robb get top billing.

㐯ssession in Death䠩s only listed as an audio book on Amazon, when will it be in print?

If you check the In Death book list (here), you will see titles listed in 㠔 that are followed by a bold-face title. For example: 㐯ssession in Death䠦eatured in The Other Side anthology. The titles in quotes are novellas, which run about 98 pages and are meant to be a taste of the In Death world to tide readers over until the next full-length book.  The novellas are part of an anthology with three other stories and a loose theme. NoraⳠaudio book publisher only contracts to record the J. D. Robb novellas and releases them alone.

When will Eve and Roarke have a baby?

Nora has said repeatedly that in her opinion a baby would signal the end of the series. As the creator of the series, she sees a baby changing everything (for the better) and the focus of the series would change radically.

In no way does this mean Nora thinks a mother canⴠbe an excellent police officer (or attorney or any other type of professional). It does mean that many of the things readers love about Eve and RoarkeⳠ life together would change (i.e., leaving home for hours on end only to return to continue working in their home offices).

Why canⴠSummerset take care of a baby?

When Eve and Roarke are parents, Nora has no doubt that they will be very much hands-on. While Summerset would be integral to their lives running smoothly, they would not just hand over the care of a child to him full-time.  That would be completely out of character for them.

Who is the Candy Thief? When will we find out?

Nora knows the identity of the Candy Thief, but sheⳠnot sure when that person will be unmasked in the books.

Movies

Where did they get the wedding dress Lily wore in Montana Sky?

The dress worn by actress Laura Mennell as Lily was custom-designed for the film.

Where can I find the video of Sanctuary?

Sanctuary was never released in any video form. It is currently on the Lifetime Movie rotation and airs once or twice a year.

Why hasnⴠNora made the In Deaths (or the Circle Trilogy, The Key Trilogy) into a movie or TV series? They would be great!

While a huge fan of television and movies, Nora writes books, not screenplays. ItⳠthe film production company that makes the first move with a plan to bring her books to film. There are no current plans to translate the In Deaths or any of NoraⳠtrilogies to film.

Miscellaneous

Would Nora critique my work?

Nora cannot critique other writers⠊work. The huge number of requests would mean that she never gets to attend to her own work.

What is some advice Nora would give to me?

Write what you like to read穦 you are not captured by the story, who will be?  Write every day穴Ⳡ a habit that you need to build. And remember to have fun with it.

When will Nora come to my city?

Readers who are new to NoraⳠwork may not realize that for nearly 20 years禲om 1986 to 2006糨e went on the road for multi-week, multi-city book tours that crisscrossed the country. Several years ago, she decided to step back from actively touring to concentrate on her writing and her family. She does appear at events selected by her publisher on occasion. When that happens, the information is immediately posted on NoraⳠwebsite and included in her newsletter.
