NORA ROBERTS TITLES FAQ
Q. I loved the In the Garden trilogy, but I really thought David deserved his own story. And I want to know about Hayley and Harper’s baby. Oh, and how do I know that Amelia is really at rest?
A. By the time readers got their hands on Red Lily, Nora had written seven more books! She has moved on to tell different stories and has no plans to revisit Harper House. As always, she assures us that everyone lived happily ever after.
Q: My favorite books are the Chesapeake Bay series, the one about the Quinns. I just saw The Quinn Brothers and The Quinn Legacy in the bookstore. Are these new stories? Will we finally hear about Aubrey?
A: They are not new stories, but 2-in-1 reprints of the series. The Quinn Brothers has Cam and Ethan’s books while The Quinn Legacy contains Philip and Seth’s.
Nora has kept to her word that revisiting the Quinns will not happen. Aubrey is a normal, happy young woman doing the work she loves and surrounded by her family. No story there that needs to be told. Chesapeake Blue, offered readers a chance to see how the family evolved and developed and continued.
Q: How about continuations of the Jewels, Born In, Dream or Three Sisters series?
A: While it’s always flattering that readers want more of characters they have grown to love, there are other stories Nora needs to tell. When a trilogy ends, readers can rest assured that the characters continue to be happy.
Q. I saw that there is a book called Born in Death coming out this year. Does this mean another Concannon Sisters book?? Please say yes!
A. Sorry, the answer is no. Born in Death is the second In Death title for 2006. For fans of the series, it means that there will finally be an addition to Mavis and Leonardo’s household.
Q. I heard that Nora has a new trilogy out this year. Is it really going to come out in three consecutive months, not spread out over 18? What’s it about??
A. The Circle Trilogy, which consists of Morrigans’ Cross, Dance of the Gods and Valley of Silence, will be out in September, October and November of 2006. Here’s Nora’s quick summary of the trilogy: “It is set partially in modern day Ireland, partially in Ireland's past, partially in a mythological land call Gael. Oh and partially in today's NYC. It has a bit more Fantasy than my other books: there is time travel, alternative universeses, shape-shifter, witch, vampires, wizards, big evil vs good, and so on.”
Sounds fun!
Q. I love all the families Nora writes about! When will there be more about the Donovans, the MacGregors, the Stanislaskis and the O’Hurleys?
A. There won’t be any more stories about those families because Nora no longer writes for Silhouette.
Q. But I just saw a new book about Cordina’s Royal Family!
A.That’s a reprint. At this point, any book published by Silhouette or Mira is a reprint. This helps newer fans find Nora’s older stories, but it can get confusing for longer term fans (though it can be helpful to replace those books worn out from rereads).
Q. I can’t find copies of The Perfect Neighbor, Secret Star, The Law is a Lady and (fill in your quest here) anywhere? Do you have any suggestions?
A: Silhouette has been reprinting Nora’s titles on a regular basis, but some are not in the rotation at this point and have gone out of print. Your best bet for out-of-print books is a used bookstore or online used booksellers.
IN DEATH FAQ
Q. What happened to the In Death movie?
A. Icon Productions’ rights to the In Death books have lapsed, so there are no plans for the In Deaths to be filmed at this time.
Q. Why can’t I find Interlude in Death? It was listed on Amazon, but is it true that it only came out in an audio version?
A. Interlude in Death was published several years ago in the Out of this World anthology. Penguin was going to reprint it as a small book, but canceled it. Brilliance Audio still brought out Interlude alone.
You can find Out of this World in most bookstores or online.
Q. In Survivor in Death, there was a mention of Dr. Mira and a criminal named Palmer. In which book do I find that story? I seem to have missed it.
A. The Palmer and Mira connection is found in Midnight in Death, which was first published as a novella in the Silent Night anthology and follows Holiday in Death in the series chronology. Midnight was published as a special limited edition book last fall to allow fans new to the series to catch up.
Q: There seems to be a discrepancy about Dr. Mira’s past. In Glory in Death Dr. Mira tells Eve she was repeatedly raped by her stepfather. Yet in Purity in Death she talks about her parents and how they met and how now they are semi-retired in Connecticut. Did I miss something?
A: Nora freely acknowledges the continuity error and addresses it in Divided in Death.
Q: When will Eve and Roarke have a baby?
A: Despite many eloquent arguments from readers about Eve and Roarke’s ability as parents, Nora is very firm that a baby would signal the end of the series since it would limit Eve’s ability to do her job in the manner to which she’s become accustomed. We will get to see Roarke and Eve deal with a baby entering their circle of friends when Mavis and Leonardo have their baby in the aptly named Born In Death in November 2006.
